The investigation into the case of death of a patient due to non-availability of ventilator in the Lorry Cardiology Department of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) has been completed. The report has been sent to Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak.

Abrar Ahmed, a resident of Chhandoiya, Dubagga, was admitted to Lari Cardiology Department on the night of 24 November. Family members allege that the elderly patients were pleading with the doctors for treatment with folded hands. The doctors had referred the patient to other institutions citing the need for a ventilator. Before this the patient’s breathing had stopped. There was an uproar by the family members after the death of the patient. Had complained.
Cognizance of the matter was taken by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak. On the instructions of the Deputy Chief Minister, the KGMU administration had constituted an inquiry committee. The committee called the family members to record their statements. After that the statements of the doctors and staff deployed in the emergency were recorded.
KGMU spokesperson Dr. Sudhir Singh said that the committee has completed the investigation. The report has been sent to the government.
