RCB recruit Jacob Bethell expressed his excitement over being signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, where he will be teammates with the talismanic Virat Kohli.
Bethell made his T20I and ODI debuts against Australia in September and has been handed a debut Test in the ongoing match against New Zealand in Christchurch, shortly after earning his first contract in the IPL.

The youngster shall be joining the ranks of veteran and legends of the game, including one Virat Kohli whom he is most excited to learn from.
“I think it will do a lot for me. It’s a bit of a given, isn’t it!? Virat Kohli. He’s a great of the game – King Kohli. Any kind of young overseas player who has gone over has come back with a wealth of experience,” stated Bethell.
The year 2024 has turned out to be a breakthrough year for Bethell, who bats left-handed and bowls left-arm spin, as good showings in the T20 Blast for Warwickshire and the Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix led him to be capped by England across all formats.
Bethell grabbed them all by the scruff of the neck and proved his mettle to all recently, hitting an unbeaten 50 off 37 balls, including smashing the winning runs, in England’s 8-wicket win over New Zealand in the first Test.
RCB head coach Andy Flower had also stated the belief he possesses in the young English batter, praising him as a prospect for the years to come for the Bengaluru franchise.
“Jacob Bethell is a guy with a very high ceiling. I think when he plays, our fans will love watching him play,” said Flower, a former England head coach himself.
“Not only will he be important for us as a batsman this year but there’s a potential for him to grow and then for us to get reward in the coming years as well.”
