Babu Keshav Das Tandon, resident of Mohalla Bada Bazar Mithai Gali, died on Wednesday morning. He was about 90 years old and due to his old age, he was ill for some time. The news of his demise caused a wave of mourning in the city. A crowd of people gathered at his residence to have his last glimpse. Babu Keshavdas Tandon was among the eminent persons of the city. Due to his social service and simple nature, he had made a place in the hearts of the people.

Became the first chairman of Kannauj Babu Keshav Das Tandon was a perfume businessman. In the initial phase he was very active in politics. He was also elected the first chairman of Kannauj Municipality. Business leader Neel Gupta said that in 1987, Kannauj Municipality was a super seat. On which Babu Keshavdas was elected chairman. People remember the development work done by him.

Became the first district president of BJP In 1997, the then Chief Minister Mayawati had announced to make Kannauj tehsil of Farrukhabad district a separate district. After the declaration of Kannauj district, Bharatiya Janata Party had declared Babu Keshavdas Tandon as the first district president of this district. In Kannauj, it was he who worked to connect many people with BJP. He had been the District President of BJP for two consecutive terms.
