The attendance of students in 238 government schools of Balrampur has been found to be less than 60%. Expressing displeasure over this, the Education Department has issued notices to all the headmasters and sought clarification. Also warned to withhold salary for December if attendance does not improve.

Revealed in IVRS review

Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Shubham Shukla said that a review was conducted on Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) on December 9. During this period, it was found that 52 were found in Shriduttganj, 31 in Haraiya Satgharwa, 30 in Tulsipur, 28 in Balrampur Rural, 23 each in Gansadi and Gaidasbujurg, 19 in Rehra, 16 in Pachpedwa, 14 in Utraula and one in a school in Balrampur Nagar area. The attendance of students was very low.

Strict action against negligence of teachers

The Education Department has blamed the negligence of teachers for the low attendance of students. It is alleged that many teachers do not reach school on time and do not show interest in studies, due to which the attendance of students is decreasing.

BSA Shubham Shukla said that clarification has been sought from all the headmasters on the reason for low attendance of children and the efforts made to increase the attendance. He clarified that if the attendance did not improve soon, the salaries of the teachers concerned would be stopped.

Strict action by administration

The department is now taking strict action to maintain discipline and improve attendance in schools. Reviews are being done from time to time, so that the attendance of the students can be ensured. This step of the administration has been taken in the direction of increasing the quality of education and tightening the noose on negligent teachers.
