Here, water is to be brought from the dam to Barua Sagar in Jhansi through a 220 km long canal. The bid document for canal digging has also been prepared. Jhansi Technical Advisory Group meeting will be held on 14th and 15th December. In which this will be discussed. It is believed that the tender process will be completed in the next 3 to 4 months.
There is a project to bring the water of Ken River to Betwa River.
Ken River, which originates near Damoh in Madhya Pradesh, passes through a large forest area. During the rainy season, the flood of this river becomes so strong that alarm bells ring in many villages. The situation becomes worse in Banda. At the same time, coastal villages of Madhya Pradesh also fall prey to it.
On the other hand, Betwa river shrinks completely by the time it reaches Raisen, Vidisha. To overcome this weakness of Betwa, it was decided to connect it with Ken. The responsibility of survey and shaping the project was handed over to the National Water Development Agency.
New Daudhan Dam will be built
Under the plan, 1074 million cusec meter water from Ken river is to be pumped into Betwa. For this, a new 77 meter high Daudhan Dam will be built two and a half kilometers above the approximately 100 year old Gangau Dam in Chhatarpur. A 220 km long canal will be built from here, through which the canal water will be pumped into the Baruasagar pond.
The process of the project, which was taking shape on paper for almost 15 years, is now in its final stages. There are preparations for its all-round launch. Bhoomi pujan of the project for upgrading Daudhan Dam is going to take place, for which time has been sought from the Prime Minister’s Office. The possibility of Bhoomi Pujan was being expressed in Panna district on 25th December, but till now no message has come from the PMO.
Tender process will be done after the meeting
The tender process is also going to start for the excavation of the 220 km long canal from Daudhan Dam to Baruasagar Pond in Jhansi. The Technical Advisory Group meeting will be held on 14th and 15th December under the supervision of Chairman DP Bhargava. After the approval in the meeting, the tender process will start.
At the same time, the tender process has been completed for the upgradation of Daudhan Dam which is being done to stop the flow of water. Its contract has been given to Nagarjuna Construction Company. The company is preparing to start work this month, for which time has been sought from the PMO.
The survey work of the canal is also in the final stage.
The canal coming from Daudhan Dam to Barua Sagar in Jhansi will satiate the land of Mahoba and Banda also. Its survey work is almost complete. In the survey, data about the route of the canal and the affected farmers has been collected.
Canal will emerge from these 10 villages of Jhansi
The canal will emerge from Baghaura, Bonda, Bangradhwa, Magarwara, Luhar village Bhat, Ghurat, Bamanguwan, Sakrar, Ghughuwa, Pathguwa of Jhansi tehsil and Mauranipur.
Excavation of the canal will start as soon as the tender process is completed.
