AI engineer Atul’s lawyer Shailesh Sharma in Jaunpur District Court says – Atul Subhash Modi was married in 2019. Everything was good then. He went to Bengaluru with his wife Nikita Singhania. First he would drop Nikita to her office and then go to his office. But, after the birth of the child, the relationship gradually started deteriorating.

The matter reached the police and then came to court. In the court, both of them also accused each other of extra marital affair. Atul kept waiting for justice, but did not get it. Under this pressure he chose death.

Stayed at in-laws’ house for two days and accused her of demanding dowry. Atul Subhash Modi, resident of Veni village in Samastipur district of Bihar, created the ID on the matrimonial site. It was on this site that he got acquainted with Nikita Singhania of Ruhatta area of ​​Jaunpur. Conversation started between the two. Both of them told each other about themselves. At that time, Atul Subhash was working in a company in Bengaluru on an annual package of about Rs 25 lakh.

Nikita was also working at an annual salary of around Rs 10 lakh. The family members talked to each other. It was said from Nikita’s side that her father was unwell, hence she would have to get married soon.

On June 26, 2019, both of them got married with great pomp at Hindustan International Hotel in Varanasi. Nikita left from here and reached her in-laws’ house in Samastipur. Stayed there for 2 days. After this she went to Bengaluru with her husband Atul. She started living in Dolphinium Residency in Marathahalli area.

Nikita Singhania’s family members live in Ruhatta, a posh area of ​​Jaunpur city.

On August 17, 2019, Nikita’s father Manoj died of a heart attack. Atul’s entire family came to Jaunpur. After staying for a few days, Nikita came back to Bangalore. On February 20, 2020, Nikita gave birth to a son. It was fine for a few days, but after that the fight started. The matter reached the court on January 19, 2022.

9 cases were imposed on Atul one after the other. Nikita told Atul’s salary in the court as Rs 40 lakh. On this basis, maintenance has been sought, whereas Atul had told his salary to be Rs 20 lakh.

People around Nikita’s house are not ready to talk Nikita’s family earlier lived in Ruhatta in Jaunpur. But, 2 years ago, he bought a house near Khowa Mandi and shifted there. The family includes Nikita’s mother Nisha and brother Anurag Singhania, who live here. Nikita is currently working in Delhi. His four and a half year old son is also with him in Delhi. We talked to the people in the neighborhood about the family.

Pankaj Srivastava of the locality says – This family has never been friendly. Never cares about anyone in the locality. What came to light from other people was that the family was concerned with people only for money.

We asked whether he ever took money from you or anyone in the locality? He says that in our locality we cannot cheat with money because we are all capable of handling it. Awadhesh, sitting with Pankaj, refuses to say the same thing on camera, but repeats Pankaj’s words off camera.

The family was drowned in debt after buying a house We also wanted to understand the point in Atul’s suicide note in which he had written that his wife was talking about settling the matter for Rs 1 crore first. Then the demand was increased to Rs 3 crore.

Nikita’s neighbors say – In 2022, Nikita’s family had purchased a three-floor house of 1000 square feet in Khowa Mandi from Safiur Rahman for Rs 60 lakh. Didn’t have money, so got a loan. At that time Nikita wanted to put pressure on Atul to get the money, but he did not give the money. In 2021, Atul had given around Rs 5 lakh to Nikita’s brother Anurag for business. With this money, Anurag opened a wholesale clothes shop in the building where he lived.

The person who got this house said – this man is not good. There was a problem with the lift in the house. We asked for money, but did not get it. A complaint was also lodged at the nearby police post, but no action was taken. We left later. After this we do not have any conversation with them. Whereas I live in the same locality.

We asked an employee of Anurag’s shop about Nikita’s nature. He says in a hushed tone that his nature was very strange. She was arrogant. She didn’t care much about people. If she came every now and then, she would stay upstairs. We live in the shop, so we are not aware of what is going on in the court.

Fight between the two regarding the third There was a fight between Atul and Nikita over extra marital affair. Both had allegations against each other. Atul had told in the court that Nikita had an affair with a boy. She met him often. She used to roam with him in Bengaluru also and eat chicken. When I refused, she started fighting. There was not just one dispute but several disputes regarding that boy. Due to this, Nikita left Bengaluru and went to Jaunpur.

In response to this, Nikita says in the court, he is the son of my father’s friend. Just my friend. Atul himself has an affair with a girl from the office. Apart from this, he has an affair with two more girls. Atul spends all his earning money on these girls.

Engineer Atul Subhash’s brother-in-law and mother-in-law locked the house in Jaunpur late on Wednesday night and went somewhere.

Nikita’s nature is very rude and angry. Atul had written in the court that Nikita’s nature was aggressive, angry, stubborn and dictatorial. People in Nikita’s neighborhood also talk in a similar manner. A junior lawyer sitting with Nikita’s lawyer also says that whenever Nikita came to the court, she had a different anger in her nature. She used to talk as if teaching a lesson. It seemed he was proud of his money.

Court ordered to pay around Rs 12 lakh On January 19, 2022, Nikita filed the first case. After this, a total of 9 separate cases were registered. There were allegations like dowry, attempt to murder, unnatural sex etc. 6 cases were in the trial court. 3 were going on in the High Court.

Nikita had also named Atul and his family by citing dowry as the reason for her father’s death due to heart attack. Whereas that death had nothing to do with dowry. At that time of death, Atul had gone to Jaunpur with his entire family. He himself also lent his shoulder.

On July 29, 2024, Jaunpur Family Court Judge Rita Kaushik gave the verdict in the matter of maintenance of the son. He ordered that Atul should give 40 thousand rupees as allowance to his child every month. This allowance will be linked to the month in which the case is filed.

That means Atul would have to pay a total of Rs 11 lakh 60 thousand in the month of August from January 2022 to July 2024. After that, 40 thousand rupees have to be paid every month till the child attains majority. However, Atul did not give this money to Nikita for his son. During suicide, he also mentioned that my money would have been used for my destruction, hence he did not give it.

Nikita was not ready to go with her husband We reached out to Nikita’s lawyer Vivek Srivastava in Jaunpur Family Court. We asked whether Nikita did not want to go with Atul? He says- The boy was not able to fulfill the conditions given by the girl. That’s why the girl was not ready to go. Atul would have gone to the High Court against the maintenance order given by the court. If the decision was wrong here, it could have been right there.

We asked the question of Atul’s suicide note, in which he says that there is no law for men in this country. Vivek says- It is a male dominated society. Girls get married and come to men’s homes. Therefore the law is a little strict towards men.

Nikita did not allow Atul to meet his son. After this we reached Atul’s lawyer Dinesh Mishra. Shailesh Sharma is also looking into this matter along with Dinesh. Dinesh Mishra says- Atul’s death is unfortunate. After the verdict in July, he did not meet anyone. Didn’t speak. It seems that he went into depression because of his wife and mother-in-law.

We asked whether all the cases happened at different times? Dinesh says- When a woman files a case against a man, she wants how much pressure should be put on the husband. It is all over the country. A similar thing happened here also. In all the other laws related to women, the only thing that happens is that if pressure is given then the boy should be ready to stay with her. Or start paying a good amount as maintenance. In this case I believe that Atul’s fault was less.

In his suicide note, Atul has accused Jaunpur Family Court Chief Judge Rita Kaushik of taking Rs 5 lakh. We talked to the lawyers here on this matter. No one was ready to talk on camera. Although some lawyers say that it is not possible for Judge Rita to ask for money directly from anyone.
