Is George Clooney’s Marriage In Trouble Over Political Blunders And Broadway Plans? – News18
Last Updated:
George Clooney’s political opinions and Broadway debut have started complicating his relationship with lawyer Amal.
George Clooney is reportedly navigating a rocky phase in both his personal and professional life. After publicly endorsing Kamala Harris in her presidential campaign and advising Joe Biden to pass the torch to a younger candidate, Clooney’s political moves reportedly backfired, leading to public scrutiny. These challenges have allegedly strained his marriage with lawyer Amal Clooney. Amid this turmoil, George is said to be channelling his energy into Broadway. However, this new venture could further complicate matters, as it might require relocating to New York, disrupting the family’s European lifestyle. Their twins, Ella and Alexander, currently enjoy a private upbringing in Europe, and a move could unsettle their routine. Sources suggest that the ongoing changes have left George in a moody state, which Amal may be finding difficult to handle.
Speaking with Radar Online, an insider explained, “George truly believed that his endorsement of Kamala Harris would move mountains, but it’s only made him look like another conceited, self-important celebrity. His op-ed calling for President Joe Biden to remove himself from the race was also met with a lot of rolling of eyes. The truth is that George’s opinion doesn’t carry as much weight as he thought and he’s been left with major egg on his face. His ego has taken a big hit and he’s been moody and Amal won’t put up with it for long.”
George Clooney is set to make his Broadway debut in the stage adaption of his 2005 film Good Night, and Good Luck. Although he’s excited about the opportunity, it will also require him to spend six months in New York for rehearsals and performances. This will force him to stay away from his wife Amal and their 7-year-old twins. After relocating to Manhattan, it’s unclear if Amal could be able to visit Clooney due to her own commitments and children’s school.
The source further shared, “Moving to Manhattan and keeping them totally out of the spotlight and their identities protected would be very difficult. Amal’s work also requires her to be in Europe a lot, so that’s another big consideration. The couple may be separated for weeks at a time, which would obviously be tough for them. They already went through a period of spending a lot of time apart and it didn’t do the marriage any good. They’ve managed to iron things out in the past and they’ll have to tackle this new hurdle together and friends do hope they can.”
Other than his Broadway debut, George Clooney will also appear in Jay Kelly, alongside Adam Sandler, Laura Dern and Billy Crudup.
