Pushpa 2 actor Allu Arjun was arrested for woman’s death in stampede during the film’s Hyderabad premiere.
Allu Arjun, who was arrested in connection with the tragic death of a woman during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the Pushpa 2 premiere on December 4, has been released on bail. The actor had sought interim bail, which was granted by the Telangana High Court; however, delays in paperwork resulted in him spending a night in jail. He has now been released, bringing temporary relief for him as investigations into the incident continue.
Telugu superstar Allu Arjun spent Friday night in Chikkadpally Central Jail after there were delays in completing his bail process following his arrest in connection with the death of a woman during a stampede at the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule in Hyderabad. Although the Telangana High Court had granted him interim bail earlier, procedural issues and the superintendent leaving for the day stopped his release.
Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday and placed in 14-day judicial custody by a local court in Hyderabad. This was due to a tragic incident on December 4, when a 35-year-old woman died and her 8-year-old son was injured in a stampede at the Sandhya Theatre. Thousands of fans had gathered to see the actor during the premiere that ensued the chaos.
The Telangana High Court has ruled that there was no malafide action associated with Allu Arjun in the ongoing case. Granting him interim bail for a period of four weeks, the court provided the actor with a significant relief. In addition, the court set a personal bail bond of Rs 50,000.
Meanwhile, Bhaskar, the husband of the deceased woman Revathi, has said that he is willing to withdraw the case. In his statement, he shared that he doesn’t hold Allu Arjun responsible for the stampede that claimed his wife’s life. “I am ready to withdraw the case. I was not aware of the arrest and Allu Arjun has nothing to do with the stampede in which my wife passed away,” he said.
