As the odour intensified, over 20 students present in the class experienced symptoms of fainting and nausea.
At least nine students were admitted to hospital after they became ill due to a gas leak on the premises of a private coaching institute in Jaipur on Sunday. Among those hospitalised, two students have been admitted in ICU.
As per the preliminary information, the incident took place at Utkarsh Coaching Classes located at city’s Gopalpura area on Sunday.
The incident occurred at around 6.45pm when an unusual odour began emanating in the classroom during an ongoing session. According to the reports, a suspected gas leak from the air conditioning system caused a foul odour.
As the odour intensified, over 20 students present in the class experienced symptoms of fainting and nausea.
As of now, their condition of the students is reported to be stable.
Several student leaders, including former Rajasthan University Student Union President Nirmal Choudhary, gathered outside the hospital to demand action against the coaching centre.
