The Parliamentarians played a cricket match on Sunday in the national capital to raise awareness about Tuberculosis. Anurag Thakur scored a century in the match against Rajya Sabha Chairman XI.

Former Union Sports Minister and BJP MP Anurag Thakur smashed an unbeaten ton while playing a friendly cricket match with the Parliamentarians aimed at raising awareness about Tuberculosis (TB).
The MPs rose above the political differences for the day and donned a special jersey, which read – ‘TB Harega Aur Bharat Jitega’ (TB will lose and India will win).
Thakur, who captained Lok Sabha Speaker XI team which was up against Rajya Sabha Chairman XI led by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, scored 111 runs, contributing to the team’s 73-run victory over the opponent.

The match was played on Sunday at Major Dhyanchand Stadium in Delhi where Lok Sabha Speaker XI batted first and put up 250 on the scoreboard, after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Rijiju-led Rajya Sabha Chairman XI scored 178 runs in response after losing 8 wickets. Former cricketer and Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin scored the highest 74 runs off 42 balls.

Om Birla Inaugurates Match
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the match by releasing the Tricolour balloons in the air. Union Minister Piyush Goyal distributed prizes to the players at the end of the match.

Anurag Thakur scored the ton in 59 balls and scored an unbeaten 111 in 65 balls, becoming the Man of the Match.

Who Won What?
Congress leader Deepender Hooda was given the best fielder award, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey was the best fielder, Mohammad Azharuddin was the best batsman. Ram Mohan Naidu and Imran Pratapgarhi were the joint golden duck.
The Super Six award was won by K Sudhakar, super catch by Manoj Tiwari, maximum boundaries by Anurag Thakur, fighter of the match title was given to Chandrashekhar Azad.
