A trip down nostalgia lane turned into a nightmare for a diabetic man with incontinence issues at the Mumbai concert for legendary singer Bryan Adams. He said he literally “paid to pee (in my pants)” at the concert, alleging inadequate washroom facilities.
Sheldon Aranjo penned an open letter to Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and the head of EVA Global Events, which organised the multi-city Bryan Adams tour, on LinkedIn. The post, which is accompanied by a graphic image of the incident, has gone viral and triggered widespread outrage on the internet.
Aranjo, who describes himself as an entrepreneur on LinkedIn, alleged that there were only three washrooms for at least 1,000 concert-goers and long queues meant that many may have faced a similar situation. He said he heard rampant complaints of mismanagement not only at the washrooms, but also at the food stalls and payment issues due to a separate mechanism to “load cash onto the event invite” instead of UPI.
He said since he was unable to access any washroom, he had to eventually relieve himself behind a tree but not before soiling his pants. “I PAID to PEE (in my pants) at the Bryan Adams concert,” he wrote in the beginning of a long post on LinkedIn, in which he described his dire situation.
Towards the end of the post, he made an appeal saying: “Please get your sh%t together before bringing down international artists and charging us money to be treated to your learning curve. It seems, you guys are in a hurry to launch event companies and flip them.”
Aranjo further claimed that many other guests were complaining about the “amateur management of the concert” with regard to “Long queues at the loos”, “The food stalls”, and “Unnecessary queue to load cash onto the event invite in the era of UPI (cash/card only!!)”.
His post attracted a barrage of comments in solidarity, with many saying he should file a lawsuit against the organisers for his harrowing experience. But, he thanked others for the support and said he did think of issuing a legal notice instead of a social media post. He also said it was time to think of what can be done to make a “positive impact” since he had more pictures of what transpired at the event.
“Sometimes you get to know your true friends when you pee your pants 🙂 I’m overwhelmed by the support I’ve received for this post (which I did debate putting on LinkedIn or as a legal notice!) since ALL media have become 3 sec mediums like hoardings I chose the most arresting visual. However while in queue I did click a few more pics which a colleague has advised me to share – of scores of people standing in queues WHILE Bryan Adams was performing! A few friends did mention the dire situation for women compared to men! It’s true 🙁 what can we do make a positive impact?” he added.
