Remand can be for 90 days

If police sources are to be believed, now the decision to lodge a report under the Gangster Act will be taken in the meeting of top police officers. After registering the report, the police will take remand of the accused, which can be up to 90 days. After this, the chargesheet under the Gangster Act will be filed in the police court. During this time the property of the accused will be identified.

During asset marking, action will be taken to confiscate the property acquired during the crime. The police is now busy in ascertaining the details of the property of Avneesh and other accused.

Police officials said that Avneesh and his associates have been declared the first Interrange Gang. Interrange gang is active in Kanpur and surrounding districts and carries out incidents.

On July 28, a report was lodged at the Kotwali police station on behalf of accountant Vipin Kumar against about 12 accused, including former Press Club president Avnish Dixit, in the case of grabbing land worth Rs. 1000 crore of Nazul situated in Civil Lines. The police arrested Avneesh and sent him to jail.

After which about 16 cases were filed one after the other against Avneesh. The police had filed a charge sheet of about 3200 pages in the court in 90 days. Avneesh has got bail from the court in about 14 cases. On Monday, the police took major action and prepared the gang chart of Avneesh and registered Kanpur’s first Interrange Gang-01.
