Mufasa The Lion King releases this weekend. The Disney film will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in India.
The release of this year’s most anticipated family entertainer, Mufasa: The Lion King, is just around the corner. Releasing on 20th December, the film follows the journey of everyone’s favourite king, Mufasa. Set years before the events of 2019’s The Lion King, this prequel will provide insight into Mufasa’s bond with Taka, who would eventually go on to become Scar, as well as with Sarabi, Rafiki and Zaazu – all characters we have come to love.
Like all Lion King films, family plays an important role in Mufasa: The Lion King too, and as audiences prepare for this big-screen spectacle, producer Mark Ceryak weighed in on the importance of familial bonds in the film.
According to producer Mark Ceryak, “Mufasa: The Lion King” the story explores the bonds of found family. “Mufasa and Taka’s relationship is the foundation for the incredible journey of this film, and the starting point for what will become the found family we know and love across the franchise,” he says. “It is through their brotherhood that we are thrust into the adventure; they would do anything for each other and so they must to survive. Taka, Eshe, and Obasi are Mufasa’s original found family, but it’s through Mufasa and Taka’s bond that they expand their circle with Rafiki, Sarabi, and Zazu. Familial bonds are at the core of everything we experience in this story.”
Directed by Barry Jenkins, “Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, introducing an orphaned cub called Mufasa, a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline—and their expansive journey alongside an extraordinary group of misfits.
Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King will be releasing in Indian cinemas on 20th December 2024, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
