Jansath Range Ranger Ravikant Chaudhary, Forest Inspector Ramesh Chandra and two forest guards Deepak Kumar and Pravesh Kumar have been suspended over illegal mining in Muzaffarnagar State Wildlife Reindeer Sanctuary area. Ranger has been attached to Meerut office during the period of suspension.

DFO Kanhaiya Patel said that the matter was investigated on the complaint. Illegal mining was found on agricultural land in Kasampur Khola and Tikola forest block area falling in Hastinapur century area. This entire area comes under the Barasingha sanctuary area. Apart from this, the way for illegal mining was made by destroying plants for the fire line.

Complaint was made to DFO No action was taken by the Rangers against illegal mining on private land by farmers and construction of roads in the century area. Permission for mining and road was also not taken from the department. The complaint of the ranger and the forest department team regarding the whole matter was made to the DFO on 6 December. On this, the departmental team under the leadership of Regional Forest Officer Morna investigated, after which a DF phone on-site inspection was conducted in December, in which the matter of destruction of plants came to light.
