Atlee discusses Baby John’s competition with Pushpa 2: The Rule, praising Allu Arjun and Varun Dhawan’s camaraderie ahead of the Christmas release.
Filmmaker Atlee is gearing up for the much-awaited release of Baby John, a Varun Dhawan-starrer action-packed film. However, the movie will face some stiff competition at the box office, with Pushpa 2: The Rule continuing its record-breaking run worldwide. Released on December 5, Pushpa 2 has earned over Rs 1400 crore, solidifying its place as a massive hit.
Despite the competition, Atlee is confident about Baby John’s success and dismisses the idea of a direct “clash” between the two films. At a recent press meet in Mumbai, the filmmaker clarified his stance on the upcoming release. He explained, “It’s an ecosystem. Me and Allu Arjun sir are very good friends. We’re releasing Baby John in the fourth week of December, not head-to-head. So don’t call it a clash. There’s no conflict here. We’re aware that Pushpa 2 shifted from August to December, and we’ve planned our release around Christmas. We’re all professionals, and we know how to handle this.”
Atlee further shared a heartwarming gesture from Allu Arjun, who recently reached out to congratulate him on Baby John and also spoke to Varun Dhawan. “He congratulated me about the film and spoke to Varun. There’s great friendship and love in this ecosystem,” Atlee shared.
Atlee, who previously worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan and is now collaborating with Varun Dhawan in Baby John, expressed his enthusiasm for working with the country’s biggest superstars. “I want to work with every superstar in India. Big projects don’t pressure me because I love what I do,” he said.
Baby John is produced by Atlee and his wife Priya under their banner A For Apple Studios, with Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studio and Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios also backing the film. Directed by Kalees, the movie features Varun Dhawan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Keerthy Suresh in key roles, with Salman Khan making a cameo appearance. The film is scheduled to release on December 25, coinciding with Christmas, ready to take the box office by storm, despite the competition from Pushpa 2.
