KGMU has 4000 beds. Most of the beds are always full. Seven to eight thousand patients are coming to OPD every day. The state government is allocating a budget of more than Rs 950 crore to provide better treatment to the patients. Apart from this, KGMU is also charging OPD and investigation fees from the patients.

KGMU The game is happening openly in

Despite the huge budget, the plight of the patients is still there. The situation is that the KGMU administration has failed to break the link between its doctor-employees and brokers. Nursing home brokers are taking advantage of this. On the pretext of providing better and affordable treatment, they are shifting helpless patients from KGMU to nursing homes. They are charging huge amount from the attendants.

KGMU doctors and employees have strong ties with the brokers of the nursing home. This is the reason why brokers are taking admitted patients to nursing homes without passes and other important documents. The institute administration has completely failed to stop this. Patients are having to pay the price of brokerage nexus by losing their lives.

This was the incident

Baghauli resident Munni Devi was injured in a road accident. The family members had first taken him to the district hospital Hardoi. There, he was admitted to the Trauma Center on November 30 as his condition was critical. Meanwhile, the broker took the patient to a private hospital located on IIM Road. He was put on shift in ICU. In lieu of treatment, a demand of about Rs 2.5 lakh was made. The patient died on Tuesday morning. It was told that the broker had taken the patient from the ward.
