Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s maiden production ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ released yesterday on Prime Video. Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan have now praised the film written and directed by Shuchi Talati. PeeCee called it an ‘honest’ and ‘beautifully-crafted’ story. Meanwhile, Hrithik, who watched the film at MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in October, couldn’t recommend it enough!
Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram story and wrote, “An honest, beautifully crafted story of desire, rebellion, and coming-of-age, #GirlsWillBeGirls, written and directed by #ShuchiTalati- streaming now, only on @primevideoin.” Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan shared a picture of him posing with Girls Will Be Girls actors Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron, director Shuchi Talati, Shabana Azmi and Ali Fazal at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024. Praising the film, Hrithik wrote that he has very rarely been so impacted by a film, and called the movie ‘pure genius’.
Hrithik Roshan wrote, “Saw GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS at the MAMI festival. Very rarely have I been so moved and so impacted by a film. This work is just pure genius. Believe it’s out on Amazon prime now. If you like good cinema, please don’t miss this one!” The film was selected for the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024, where it competed in the South Asia Competition section in October 2024.
Girls Will Be Girls Screening
Meanwhile, recently, a screening of Girls Will Be Girls was held in Mumbai, and it was attended by celebrities such as Vijay Varma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rasika Dugal, Dia Mirza, Konkona Sensharma and others. Konkona and Dia were deeply moved by the film, and were left teary-eyed.

Girls Will Be Girls marks the debut of Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal as producers with their joint venture Pushing Buttons Studios. Written and directed by Shuchi Talati, it revolves around a compelling story set in a boarding school in a small Himalayan town in North India. The film features debutants Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron alongside Kani Kusruti in lead roles.
Speaking about the India release of their film during a chat with ANI, Richa Chadha shared, “This is our first film (as producers) and it’s a highly awarded one. It bagged awards at the Sundance Film Festival, had screenings at Busan and TIFF. Also, at the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI), we won four awards. Now we are bringing this Indian film to the Indian audience.”
