Public will also face problems due to privatization
Jitendra Singh Gurjar, General Secretary of Electricity Employees Joint Struggle Committee, said that the biggest hit due to privatization is going to be on consumers. Tata Power and Adani Power operate in Mumbai. Electricity rates for domestic consumers in Mumbai are Rs 17-18 per unit. The maximum electricity rate for domestic consumers in Uttar Pradesh is Rs 06.50 per unit. It is clear that if privatization takes place, the electricity rate for farmers and domestic consumers in Uttar Pradesh will immediately become Rs 10 per unit or more.
