Virat Kohli’s emotional side was revealed by none other than Varun Dhawan, who recently shared an interesting story about his Sui Dhaaga co-star Anushka Sharma. While praising Anushka as an evolved person, Varun couldn’t help but express his regret for not starting their work relationship earlier. Anushka, who is now focusing on raising her two kids with Virat, left a strong impact on Varun. During a chat on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Varun recalled a moment when Anushka opened up about Virat’s mindset. She revealed that after India’s loss at the Nottingham Test, Virat was in tears, blaming himself despite being the highest scorer that day.
“It was at the Nottingham Test, when India lost. She said that she didn’t attend that game. She came back and didn’t know where Virat was. She went to the room and saw him, literally crying. He blamed himself, even though he was the highest scorer that day,” he recalled.
Calling Anushka Sharma a “real person” who brings a genuine presence to everyone she meets, Varun Dhawan shared that Anushka’s honesty can sometimes make people feel uncomfortable, but it’s one of the things that makes her special. “Anushka is the kind of person, anybody’s life that she enters, she will… She’s such a real person. People become uncomfortable because of her realness sometimes. She says the rights things at the right time. She embarked upon a very evolved spiritual path at a very young age, I feel. She lets people be the way they are also.”
He also mentioned how during their film shoot, they spent a lot of time talking. “She doesn’t tolerate injustice. I spent a lot of time with her just talking during Sui Dhaaga. We were shooting in a village, and we would sit on rocking chairs and just talk.”
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma got married on December 11, 2017, in a private ceremony in Italy. The couple welcomed their daughter, Vamika, in 2021 and son Akaay in 2024.
