Courses in Rural Development Management and Skill Development have been started through Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Center at MLK College, Balrampur. This is happening for the first time in the Terai region, so that the youth can get the benefit of new possibilities.

Now MSc (Master of Science) course has also been started in the college. Photo and videography have also been included in the curriculum as part of skill development. Apart from this, Yoga degree can also be obtained through distance education. IGNOU Coordinator Dr. Alok Shukla said that farmers can be linked to rural development management. For this, meetings are being held with sugar mill officials and employees. Youth and farmers will get better opportunities through this course. The college has taken the initiative of education for the prisoners in the district jail. The prisoners will be given the facility to study from IGNOU. An awareness workshop has been organized for this.
Counselor will be arranged
The principal of the college has suggested that counselors should be arranged for the prisoners, so that they can remain physically and mentally healthy. The jailer says that this step will help in improving the prisoners and motivating them for a better lifestyle. Dr. Shukla said that the new courses and expansion of services of IGNOU will help the youth of Terai region in higher education and skill development. This will prove to be a big step in the development of the area.
