The two-day district level Taekwondo competition organized by the Taekwondo Association in Ambedkar Nagar was inaugurated by the chief guest, Vivek Maurya, patron of Narayan Foundation. This competition is organized by Eklavya Sports Center under the direction of Uttar Pradesh Taekwondo Association.

Eight crore people play taekwondo
Highlighting the importance of Taekwondo sport, Chief Guest Vivek Maurya at the inauguration ceremony said that this sport is not only important for physical development, but it also improves mental development and socio-economic status. He told that this game is popular in more than 200 countries across the world and about eight crore people play it. Maurya informed that at present the Central Government and the State Government are dedicated to the development of sports, and he also discussed about the incentives and facilities for the players.
He further said that sports not only increases physical fitness but it is also an effective way to keep away from addiction and generate positive energy in the young generation through rewards.
Many schools participated
This competition is being organized in different categories of boys and girls, like Kids, PV, Sub Junior, Cadet, Junior and Senior categories, in which competitions will be held in different weight categories. Taekwondo players from major schools of the district are participating in the competition, which include St. Xavier Senior Secondary School Jalalpur, St. Xavier School Tamsa Marg, Little Flower Public School Ramnagar, New Era Public School Patel Nagar and Mana Martial Arts and Sports Club.
