The murder report was lodged by the young man’s mother-in-law, however, during the testimony in the court, the plaintiff and the young man’s wife retracted their statements. The presence of the young man at the crime scene, the recovery of the murder and the testimony of the killer’s friend contributed significantly to the conviction.
While filing a report at Chakeri police station in 2011, plaintiff Rekha Singh had said that her daughter Shashi was married to Ravindra Singh Bhadauria, resident of HAL Colony, on 20 February 2008. After marriage, there were frequent disputes between the daughter and son-in-law. On May 23, 2011, the daughter came home nervous and told her not to live with her husband.
The dead body was lying soaked in blood
When Rekha reached her daughter’s in-laws house, she saw that the blood-soaked body of Ravindra’s mother Meera Devi was lying on the ground and Ravindra was present on the spot. On receiving information from Rekha, the police reached the spot and registered a case of murder against the accused and arrested him.
Two witnesses retracted their statement
The case was on trial in the court of ADJ-3 Kanchan Sagar. ADGC Omendra Kumar Dixit said that 11 witnesses were presented in the case by the prosecution, in which plaintiff Rekha Singh and her daughter Shashi had retracted their statements. The statements of the murderer’s friend Rajesh Paswan were important in the court.
Rajesh told that he used to set up a vegetable shop in Ramadevi. Ravindra worked with him by investing Rs 2,000, then stopped the work after some time. One day he was at the shop, when Ravindra came with him and nervously told him that he had made a big mistake, he had murdered his mother, after which Ravindra ran away from the spot. The court found the accused Ravindra guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 12,000.
