34-year-old Root is currently the number-1 batsman in Test. He scored 1556 runs with 6 centuries in the 2024 Test. During this period his average has been 55.57. The England team will tour India from 22 February to 12 January. The team will currently play 5 T-20 and 3 ODI matches in India.

Root is out of the team since 2023 World Cup Senior batsman Joe Root is out of the ODI team since the 2023 World Cup in India. The team was out of the group stage in this tournament. Root scored 276 runs in this World Cup at an average of 30.66.
