Crime Branch and Wave City Police used to steal radio receiver units, baseband units and electronic devices from mobile towers of Airtel and Jio companies in Delhi NCR, Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Maharashtra, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Assam.

Theft of crores from scrap work

Additional Police Deputy Commissioner Crime Sachchidanand said that the team of Inspector Crime Branch Abdur Rehman has made this arrest. The arrested criminal Shahrukh Malik told that he had left his education in the year of BA. After leaving studies, he opened a biryani shop for some time and then started working as a scrap dealer with his father from the year 2021. His brother Naeem also used to work as a scrap dealer.

Naeem came in contact with Javed Meerapuria and started buying and selling electronic devices stolen from mobile towers and along with Naeem, Shahrukh also started doing this work. About 8 months ago, Naeem had gone to jail from Ghaziabad for theft of RRU. At that time, a reward of Rs 50 thousand was announced on Naeem’s arrest. After Naeem went to jail, Shahrukh took over Naeem’s work and started working together with his cousin Faeem.

Wasim also used to do scrap work

When Wasim Malik was interrogated, he told that he had left studies after studying till class-2. Went to Ranchi with his father who worked as a scrap dealer there. Came back to Meerut after working there for about 8 to 10 years. Wasim started hawking scrap in Ghaziabad and Meerut. Meanwhile, Wasim met Javed Meerapur, he told Wasim about the work of RRU, greedy for more profit, Wasim started taking stolen goods from mobile towers and giving it to Shahrukh and his brother Naeem. At night, these people reach the identified tower in vehicles and two-three of their companions climb the mobile tower and with the help of tools, steal the radio receiver unit, batteries and other valuables installed in it. If there were cameras installed there, they would be broken. After that they would sell the goods and distribute the money.
