Number of night shelters increased
In view of the cold wave situation in the district, 7 night shelters are being operated. Quilts, mattresses, drinking water, toilets, electricity and other necessary facilities have been provided in the night shelters. The total capacity to stay in these night shelters is 175 people. Night shelters have been set up at various prominent places of the city like Sagra Bus Stand, Government Roadways Complex, Ghantaghar Dharamshala, Rehra Chungi, Ahraura, Chunar and Nagar Panchayat Kachwan.
Active inspection of officials, monitoring of arrangements
As the cold increased, Additional District Magistrate Shiv Pratap Shukla and SDM Sadar Gulabchand also came out on the road at night and inspected various night shelters. He took stock of the facilities in the city’s clock tower and night shelters located on the roadways. The SDM talked to the passengers who reached the bus stand and informed them about night shelters, so that they could escape from the cold.
With the help of the local police, the ADM made arrangements to take the destitute people sleeping on the streets to night shelters. Apart from this, a meeting was held with the officials of the municipalities to review the relief work and necessary instructions were given to maintain the order.
Relief work going on at 149 places
To reduce the impact of cold in the district, bonfires are being lit at a total of 149 identified sites through municipalities and tehsils. This step has been taken to protect against cold wave and provide relief to the people.
