The Japanese carmaker Nissan, which has stopped its operation in India, is gearing up to boost its business in partnership with top player Honda. It has been reported that both brands have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), and are soon to kickstart joint businesses together.
The reports suggested that the companies are in the process of a merger, and are yet to review all the details before jumping to the concert conclusion. If everything goes as per the plans an a final official decision about the same is likely to be taken in 2025 or 2026.

Speaking about the partnership, Nissan’s CEO Makoto Uchida in a statement said, “We anticipate that if this integration comes to fruition, we will be able to deliver even greater value to a wider customer base.”
According to the details shared by HT, quoting Honda’s Director and Representative Executive Officer Toshihiro Mibe. He said, “Creation of new mobility value by bringing together the resources including knowledge, talents, and technologies that Honda and Nissan have been developing over the long years is essential to overcome challenging environmental shifts that the auto industry is facing.”
Benefits
Once the merger is done, Nissan, Honda and Mitsubishi will share components for the upcoming electric vehicles. Even the technology, batteries and software details will be shared under one roof.
It has been reported that Nissan could help Honda in developing its own EVs and next generation of hybrids as the brand has decades of experience in the vertical.
