CISF New Transfer Policy: Husband-Wife Posting Together, Deployment Near Home Among Changes – News18
Last Updated:
The CISF’s new transfer policy offers choice-based postings, option for posting near home, same city postings for couples, and fixed scheduling of posting orders
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has announced a new transfer policy for its non-gazetted officers and jawans. The policy, designed to benefit approximately 1.94 lakh personnel, aims to create a more transparent and equitable system for organisational transfers.
The CISF’s new transfer policy introduces four key improvements: choice-based postings, the option for postings near home, the possibility of couples being stationed in the same city, and the predetermined scheduling of posting orders. Additionally, the policy prioritises the skills and experience of personnel when making transfer decisions.
For the first time, soldiers will get Posting of Choice
According to Inspector General KC Samantare, for the first time in the history of the CISF, non-gazetted officers and jawans will be able to obtain postings based on their preference. Under the new policy, the first 10 years of service will be non-choice. During this initial decade, force members will be required to fulfil their duties at their assigned location.
After ten years of service, personnel will become eligible for choice posting. Eligible jawans will submit a transfer request to force headquarters, including a list of ten preferred posting locations. Force headquarters will ensure that the jawan or non-gazetted officer is transferred to one of these preferred locations.
Retiring Jawans to Receive Special Consideration in New Transfer Policy
Deputy Inspector General Shrikant Kishore has announced that a special provision for retiring personnel has been incorporated into the new transfer policy. This provision prioritises postings closer to home for those jawans due to retire within the next two years. The aim is to allow personnel to better manage family responsibilities during their transition to civilian life.
Also, they can take necessary steps to prepare for retirement. He stated that under the new provisions, these force members will need to specify three preferred locations with their transfer request. The headquarters will then endeavour to transfer the individual to one of these locations two years before their retirement.
Husband and Wife Will Now Be Able to Work in One Location
According to Deputy Inspector General Dr. Rahul Jain, the number of women force members in CISF is increasing rapidly. Special provisions have been made in the new transfer policy so that CISF’s women force members can better balance duty and home. Under these special provisions, husband and wife working in CISF will now be able to get a posting in the same location.
Furthermore, the period of non-choice posting for women force members will be six years. After six years of service, women can request a transfer to their husband’s location. This provision applies even if the husband is employed outside the CISF. Currently, approximately 5,800 couples are employed within the CISF.
