A parked roadways bus suddenly caught fire on Tuesday night in Khamaria Pandit village of Khamaria police station area in Lakhimpur. Within a few minutes the bus started burning. The villagers tried hard to extinguish the fire, but by the time the fire was brought under control, the bus was completely burnt to ashes.

This bus used to go to Lucknow every day

According to the information, driver Rampratap Pandey of Khamaria village and conductor Abhichal Pandey used to take the bus from Aira to Lucknow every morning. This bus used to go to Lucknow at 7:30 in the morning and reach back to Khamaria at 8:45 in the night. Like everyday, after the bus returned on Tuesday night, the driver and conductor parked the bus on the roadside and went to their home.

The accident happened within 15 minutes

Operator Abhichal Pandey said that the bus caught fire just 15 minutes after it was parked back. The fire spread so fast that people did not even get a chance to recover. The villagers tried to extinguish the fire by pouring water from buckets, but the fire was so severe that the bus could not be saved.

Possibility of fire due to short circuit

The cause of the fire is not yet clearly known, but in the initial investigation, short circuit is suspected. The local administration and roadways department have been informed about the incident. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
