Former cricketer Vinod Kambli said on Tuesday that he is feeling well now. Kambli also sang the song ‘We are the champions…we will back’ on the hospital bed.
The 52-year-old former cricketer said- ‘I will never leave it (cricket), because I remember how many centuries and double centuries I have scored. I am grateful to Sachin Tendulkar, because his blessings have always been with me.
Kambli was admitted to Thane hospital late on the night of 21 December after his health deteriorated. The medical report revealed that there was clotting in his brain. He was recently seen in Coach Ramakant Achrekar’s program. His video with Sachin Tendulkar also went viral. Kambli had also suffered a heart attack in the year 2013. Then Tendulkar got his heart surgery done.
Kambli was admitted to Thane hospital late on the night of 21 December after his health deteriorated.
Kambli’s health is being constantly monitored Dr. Vivek Trivedi, who is treating Kambli, said that Kambli’s health is being continuously monitored and the team will conduct additional medical tests on Tuesday. Trivedi also said that hospital in-charge S Singh has decided that Kambli will be provided free treatment throughout his life at the medical facility.
Kambli has been admitted to Aakriti Hospital.

Kambli’s career: Scored 1084 runs in 17 test matches
- Kambli made his ODI debut in 1991 and his Test debut in 1993. He was the fastest batsman to score 1000 Test runs in 14 innings.
- Scored a total of 1084 runs in 17 test matches for the Indian team. These include 4 centuries and 3 half-centuries.
- Scored a total of 2477 runs in 104 ODI matches, which included 2 centuries and 14 half-centuries. His performance in the 2000s was very poor and due to this he was dropped from Team India. He played his last ODI match for Team India in the year 2000 against Sri Lanka.
When Kambli cried on the field On 13 March 1996, the World Cup semi-final was between India and Sri Lanka at Eden Garden, Kolkata. Sri Lanka had scored 251 runs. In reply, the Indian team was in a good position at one time losing one wicket for 98 runs, but after Sachin’s dismissal, the team’s batting order collapsed. Team India had lost 8 wickets for 120 runs.
It was the 35th over and the Indian team needed 132 off 156 balls. Vinod Kambli 10 and Anil Kumble were present at the crease without opening the account. After this the spectators started throwing bottles on the field. A part of the stadium was set on fire. The match was stopped and Sri Lanka was declared the winner. Then while returning from the field, Kambli started crying.
After the end of the match, Kambli, who remained unbeaten, started crying on the field itself.
Kambli did 2 marriages, also worked in films Kambli married twice. First marriage was with Noela and second marriage was with fashion model Andrea Hewitt. In June 2010, Andrea gave birth to Kambli’s son Jesus Cristiano. After retiring from cricket in 2000, Kambli also turned to films.
In 2002, the film ‘Anarth’ starring Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty and Preeti Jhangiani was released. This film, directed by Ravi Dewan, flopped badly. In 2009, Kambli again did a film with the name Pal Pal Dil. The film, directed by VK Kumar, featured Kambli’s former cricketer friends Ajay Jadeja and Mahie Gill, but this film also could not win the hearts of the audience.
