Shakti Kapoor revealed that Shraddha Kapoor had encouraged him to abstain from alcohol, prompting his decision to join Bigg Boss as a contestant.
Veteran actor Shakti Kapoor has always been known for his larger-than-life personality, both on and off-screen. However, his appearance on Bigg Boss Season 5 in 2011 had a deeply personal motive tied to his daughter, Shraddha Kapoor. The actor revealed that Shraddha had encouraged him to abstain from alcohol, prompting his decision to join the reality show as a contestant.
Shakti Kapoor stayed on the show for 28 days before being evicted as the fifth contestant. In an interview with Rediff.com shortly after his stint, Shakti shared that his participation wasn’t driven by the desire to win but by a promise to his children. “I was not there to win but to prove to my children that I can stay away from alcohol for a month. I am proud that I could prove that,” he said.
Shakti’s commitment paid off, as his children and wife were thrilled with his efforts. Shraddha, in particular, expressed her admiration in a heartfelt way. “Now my daughter Shraddha says that she wants to be born as my daughter even in her next life,” Shakti shared, reflecting on the emotional bond with his family.
The actor also spoke about how his wife, Shivangi Kapoor, was equally impressed by his conduct during the show. “My wife is also proud of me and the way I have conducted myself on the show. She said that she loves me more than she ever loved me. So I told her that I will take her for another honeymoon,” he added humorously.
While Shakti Kapoor has significantly reduced his on-screen appearances in recent years, he did return in 2023 with a role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Despite his limited presence in films, his legacy as one of Bollywood’s most iconic comic and villainous actors remains intact.
