Managing a long-distance relationship is quite a challenging task, especially for a husband and wife. Often, one spouse’s job requires extensive travel, making it difficult to maintain the relationship. To combat this situation, a woman in the US quit her job and joined her husband on the road. Her husband is a truck driver who is often away for work, so the woman quit her job and began living in the truck with him. Now, she is travelling the country by his side.
According to a report in The Sun, 29-year-old Mila Horton from Atlanta decided to join her 31-year-old husband, Germain, a truck driver who transports large refrigerators across states in the USA. Most of his time is spent on the road, and the journeys often last several days.
The couple met in 2017 when Mila was working as an electric cart driver at the airport. They began dating in 2018 and got married in 2019. In 2021, Germain suggested that Mila join him on his truck journeys across the country.
Mila had always been fond of travelling, so she quit her job, put her belongings into storage, and left to travel with her husband in his truck. Germain bought a new truck, and the company he works for offers a very flexible work schedule, allowing him to choose his own routes. They also permit him to have a partner with him.
The couple built a kitchen and a bedroom inside the truck and started living there. They stop at truck stops or petrol stations to shower and attend to other needs, then return to their truck.
The couple has so far visited most states in the US, excluding New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. While Germain drives, Mila cooks meals for both of them. Despite living comfortably in the truck, they do have arguments from time to time, as they spend 24 hours a day together. To resolve this, they give each other personal space.
Mila says that touring the country with her husband has been an incredibly unique experience for her.
