A youth riding a bicycle died after being hit by a speeding tractor-trolley laden with mud late Thursday evening in Gadwar police station area of ​​Ballia. Shravan used to work as a class IV employee on contract in an inter college located at Bind Chaura. Like every day, he was returning home on Thursday evening on a bicycle. Then a speeding tractor laden with soil crushed him. The young man died tragically on the spot. After the accident, while the tractor driver was trying to escape with the vehicle, the tractor overturned in the field and fled from the spot.

Angry villagers blocked the road

Angered by the incident, villagers and family members placed the dead body on the Gadwar-Ratsar main road and blocked it. They demanded compensation for the family of the deceased, government job for the younger brother and arrest of the tractor driver. On information, police from half a dozen police stations reached the spot. SDM Sadar Atreya Mishra and Area Officer Gaurav Kumar tried to convince the villagers, but people remained adamant on the demand of calling higher officials.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kripashankar reached the spot and talked to the villagers and family members. He assured to fulfill compensation and other demands as per the intention of the government. Only after this the jam could end. Police took the body into custody and sent it to Ballia Mortuary for postmortem.

The mother of the deceased, Reema Devi and other family members are in a bad condition, crying. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the village. Police have started searching for the tractor driver. The administration has assured that the culprit will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken.
