Hollywood star Jodie Turner-Smith is currently making headlines for her contentious legal battle with estranged husband, actor Joshua Jackson. Nearly a year after the British actor-model filed for divorce, Jodie Turner-Smith has now taken legal action against her ex-husband seeking child support and spousal support from him. In a filing made on Monday at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Turner-Smith has asked the court to order Jackson to pay over $8,000 per month in child support and nearly $30,000 per month in spousal support, including the retroactive payments that date back to the filing of her divorce petition.
The actress and her attorney Laura Wasser had filed legal documents, asking the judge to order Joshua Jackson to start cutting Jodie’s monthly checks. As per TMZ, the documents state that Jodie Turner-Smith has demanded $8,543 per month for child support along with $28,641 per month in spousal support, at least while the divorce case remains pending.
In the filing, Jodie Turner-Smith claimed that Joshua had made more money than her in Hollywood when they were together and added, “He promised to always support me and ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother.”
Alleging that Joshua is “reneging” on that promise, she added that the actor is trying to get her to agree to a settlement that is less than what she believes she deserves.
Besides the child and spousal support, the Queen & Slim actress has also asked the court to order Joshua Jackson to pay her attorney fees and forensic accounting costs that amount to $250,000. The legal filings come at a time when Turner-Smith in the original divorce petition had asked the court to terminate any rights for either of the parties to claims of spousal support after the divorce.
Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith started dating around 2018 after meeting at a party and got married in 2019. A year later, the couple welcomed their daughter in 2020. After years of being together, the former couple parted ways in 2023 after the British actress filed for divorce.
