Amitabh Bachchan Once Said He’d Tolerate Comments On Abhishek, Not Aishwarya Rai: ‘I’ll Fight Till My Last Breath’ – News18

Amitabh Bachchan stood up for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan when a report claimed that she couldn’t have a baby with Abhishek Bachchan because of stomach tuberculosis.

A Mumbai tabloid claimed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan couldn’t conceive due to stomach tuberculosis in 2010. Amitabh Bachchan, upset by this invasion of privacy, had slammed the media’s actions on his blog, defending Aishwarya Rai and the Bachchan family’s right to privacy.

He strongly criticised the tabloid for spreading false and insensitive information about his daughter-in-law, saying that such reports were not only intrusive but also deeply hurtful, especially when concerning personal and sensitive matters like health.

“I write to you today in deep anguish, pain and disgust. This article is completely false, completely fabricated, unsubstantiated, insensitive and of the lowest quality of journalism there ever was,” Amitabh Bachchan had written on his blog, as quoted by PTI and published by Rediff.

Amitabh Bachchan went on to add that Aishwarya is like a daughter to him, not just his daughter-in-law. He said he will fight for her if anyone disrespects her. He wrote, “I am the head of my family. Aishwarya is not my daughter-in-law, she is my daughter, a woman, a lady in my house and home. If anyone will speak derogatorily about her, I shall fight for her till my last breath. If you have something to say to the men in the house, Abhishek or me, I shall bear it. BUT … if you shall make injudicious remarks on the women in my home, I shall not tolerate it !!!.”

This wasn’t the first time that Amitabh Bachchan had stood up for Aishwarya Rai. When they were shooting for Khakee near Nashik in 2003 with Akshay Kumar, a terrifying accident involving Aishwarya occurred. Aishwarya had to be rushed to the hospital.

Amitabh Bachchan, who would later become Aishwarya’s father-in-law after she married his son Abhishek Bachchan, was really upset with the media’s portrayal of her accident. “For two nights I couldn’t sleep. To see this happen in front of my eyes! Her back was lacerated with cactus thorns. The bone in the rear portion of her feet is broken. She suffered severe cuts. And her injury was reported as trivial,” Amitabh Bachchan had said.

Aishwarya Rai married Abhishek Bachchan on April 20, 2007, in a grand ceremony, and became the “Bachchan Bahu” Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Aishwarya and Abhishek have a daughter named Aaradhya Bachchan.
