Karun Nair is the top-scorer of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25.
In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Vidarbha captain Karun Nair has become the batsman who has scored the most runs without getting out in List-A cricket. He is the first batsman in the world to score 530 or more runs in List A without getting out.
Nair scored his third consecutive century against Uttar Pradesh at the Vizzy Stadium in Vizianagaram on Friday. This is his fourth century in the last 5 matches. The special thing is that he was not out in the last four innings.
Scored a century against Jammu and Kashmir in the first match 33-year-old Karun Nair started making this record with a match against Jammu and Kashmir on 23 December 2024. In that match played at Vizzy Stadium in Vizianagaram, he played an unbeaten inning of 112 runs against Jammu and Kashmir while chasing the target of 222 runs.
Scored 44 not out against Chhattisgarh on 26 December. After this, he played an unbeaten inning of 163 runs against Chandigarh on 28 December and an unbeaten inning of 111 runs against Tamil Nadu on 31 December. However, Karun Nair could not continue his unbeaten run against Uttar Pradesh. He was out after scoring 112 runs in 101 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes.
Record of New Zealand’s James Franklin broken When he scored 70 runs against Uttar Pradesh, Karun Nair became the first Indian batsman to score 500 or more List A runs without getting out. After this, he also surpassed the List A record made by former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin (527) in 2010 and scored his seventh List-A century.
Vidarbha defeated UP by 8 wickets Nair completed his century in 100 balls while chasing the target of 308 runs. Apart from him, the other opener Yash Rathore also scored a century. Apart from him, Karnataka’s Mayank Agarwal and Punjab’s Prabhsimran Singh have also scored three centuries this season.
Will play with Delhi Capitals in IPL Karun Nair played for Karnataka for 11 years before joining Vidarbha in 2023. After becoming the captain for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Karun Nair was also selected for the IPL after two seasons during the IPL 2025 mega auction last November.
The right-handed batsman was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakh. Nair will be playing with Delhi Capitals for the second time after 2016-17. Nair, who played his last match for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home in 2017-18, was listed as an uncapped player in the IPL auction.
Nair is the second Indian batsman to score a triple century in Test. Karun Nair is the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in Tests. Nair played an unbeaten inning of 303 runs against England in Chennai in 2016. He is out of Team India since 2017. Karun played his last Test against Australia in Dharamsala in 2017.
Before him, Virender Sehwag had scored 300+ runs in Tests. Sehwag had scored 304 runs against Pakistan in Multan in 2004 and 319 runs against South Africa in Chennai in 2008.
