Ram Gopal Varma, known for his admiration for the late Sridevi, recently shared his candid views on her daughter, Janhvi Kapoor.

Director Ram Gopal Varma’s long-standing admiration for the late Sridevi is no secret. Over the years, RGV’s candid and often unfiltered expressions of affection for the iconic actress have drawn attention and sparked debate. In a recent interview on his channel, the filmmaker once again spoke about Sridevi, but this time, he also shared his thoughts on her daughter, actor Janhvi Kapoor. “I don’t see Sridevi in Janhvi yet,” said Ram Gopal Varma, leaving no room for ambiguity.

Interestingly, Janhvi’s Devara co-star Jr NTR had previously commented on how, during a photoshoot for the film, there was a moment where Janhvi looked like a spitting image of her legendary mother. However, RGV brushed off such comparisons, attributing them to what he called a “Sridevi hangover.” Reflecting on Sridevi’s immense talent and enduring legacy, he remarked, “Be it Padaharella Vayasu or Vasanta Kokila, she delivered a range of performances. In fact, seeing her perform, I forgot that I was a filmmaker and started seeing her as an audience. That is the range.”

When asked about the possibility of collaborating with Janhvi Kapoor, RGV made his stance crystal clear. “I liked the mother right, not the daughter,” he stated candidly. Clarifying that his remark was not meant to be malicious, he added, “Honestly, throughout my career, there have been a lot of actors and big stars with whom I haven’t developed a connection. So yeah, I have no intention of doing a film with Janhvi.”

On the work front, Ram Gopal Varma is gearing up for a comeback with a new project featuring Manoj Bajpayee, his lead actor from Satya. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor, who recently appeared in Devara, has an exciting lineup of projects, including Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari and Param Sundari. Despite the contrasting opinions, Janhvi continues to carve her own space in the industry, stepping out of her legendary mother’s shadow while navigating her career path.
