Senior Supreme Court Justice Surya Kant has said that the guarantee of rule of law is necessary for a developed India. Addressing the seminar organized by Pandit Kanhaiyalal Lal Mishra Memorial Committee as the chief guest, he said that the judicial system

Justice Surya Kant said, our duty should be towards the nation and society. The need for quality judges has always been there and this requires participation of all stakeholders. Earlier, Supreme Court Justice Pankaj Mittal said that a few changes can yield expected results. He suggested making the High Court Collegium five-member instead of three. He said justice delayed is justice denied. Lack of judges and basic facilities are coming in the way. The system needs minor improvements. Such people should be appointed who can fulfill constitutional responsibilities.

He supported the PIL for the rights of the oppressed but said that useless petitions should not be filed. The base of district courts should also be strengthened by reforms. He also gave some suggestions.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, while addressing the lawyers, assured that the government is serious about the medical and general insurance of lawyers and will take a positive decision after getting the data. Advocate Act will also be amended for advocate safety.

He said that crime and criminal tracking system is working in Chandigarh. Said that Modi government is on the mission of developing India. The shortcomings of the justice system will also be rectified.

Law Minister Meghwal stressed on three things: equality, liberty and fraternity and said that without these we will not be able to fulfill the intention of the Constitution.

Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali described the judiciary as a power house for any country. Said that its light should not be dim. Said that five crore cases are pending in the country. An effective system is not only important for rule of law but also for maintaining people’s trust. He laid emphasis on judicial reforms and training.

Former Chief Justice of the country and Rajya Sabha member Justice Ranjan Gogoi called Allahabad the capital of judiciary. He urged the Law Minister to fill the vacant posts of judges in the High Court. Said that judges are also human beings. Everyone should find a solution to eliminate the shortage of judges.

Bar Council of India Chairman and Rajya Sabha member Manan Mishra threw light on the personality and work of Pandit Kanhaiyalal Mishra and narrated many memoirs related to him. Said that he has achieved an incomparable position in the judicial world with his ability and debate. We should take inspiration.

Chairman of the organizing committee, Justice Tarun Agarwal, former Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, welcomed the guests and gave a brief introduction of everyone and said that the mediation concept is the contribution of Justice Surya Kant.

Former Supreme Court Justice AP Mishra, son of late Kanhaiyalal Mishra, said, shortage of judges is a big problem, vacant posts should be filled. He also narrated his father’s memoirs.

The theme of the seminar, held in the conference hall of Allahabad High Court at Drummond Road, was ‘Need and scope for judicial reforms in the context of current problems facing the judicial system.’

Senior advocate and head of the welcome committee NC Rajvanshi expressed his gratitude to the guests. Steering Committee Secretary and Advocate Santosh Kumar Tripathi did it.

Advocates Bhanu Dev Pandey, SP Shukla, JB Singh, RP Tiwari, VP Shukla, Manoj Nigam, RK Jaiswal, etc. made important contributions in the event. Justice MK Gupta, Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Justice Gautam Chaudhary, Justice VK Birla, Justice Piyush Aggarwal, several judges, Additional Solicitor General Shashi Prakash Singh, Deputy Solicitor General Gyan Prakash and a large number of advocates participated in the programme.
