Another case of cyber crime has come to light in Gorakhpur, where cyber criminals defrauded Nitish Kumar, a resident of Aam Bazar, Shaktipur, Shahpur, of Rs 6.55 lakh on the pretext of a part-time job. This incident has once again exposed the growing threat of online fraud.

The game of fraud started from WhatsApp Nitesh Kumar told that he received a part-time job offer from an unknown number on WhatsApp. The message claimed that he can earn good money by completing some easy tasks sitting at home. This offer attracted him, and he started following the instructions given.
Fraud started from Telegram link After the message, a Telegram link was sent to Nitish, where he was asked to complete the task. Initially, small tasks were given, after completing which they were given a nominal amount. This convinced Nitesh that this was real work. But gradually he was given bigger tasks, in the name of which the fraudsters collected Rs 6.55 lakh from him.
How did you realize you were cheated? When Nitish realized that he was cheated, he tried to ask for his money back. But instead of returning the money, the fraudsters demanded to deposit another Rs 4 lakh. After this Nitish lodged a complaint in the cyber police station.
Nitish said in the complaint that he was contacted through Telegram IDs @Sharma_9102s, @Nidhi200182 and @sjnsa122122. Using these IDs, the swindlers laid a complete trap and grabbed a huge amount of money.
Digital evidence being collected for identification Cyber police station has registered a case against unknown cyber criminals under the IT Act on the complaint of Nitish. SP City Abhinav Tyagi said, “In the initial investigation, the allegations of cheating have been confirmed. Digital evidence is being collected to identify the criminals. The culprits will be arrested soon.”
Increase in online fraud cases This case is another link in the increasing cases of online fraud in Gorakhpur. Experts say that such fraudsters use social media and messaging platforms to trap people. Usually, huge amounts of money are extorted from people by luring them with easy and high earnings.
Police appealed for caution Police have appealed to the general public not to trust messages and links coming from unknown numbers. Before investing in any online work, definitely check its authenticity. If anyone becomes a victim of such fraud, then immediately contact the cyber police station.
