Mitchell Starc revealed that he will be on commentary for the upcoming Women’s Ashes and is said to relish the chance to respond to his wife Alyssa Healy’s jovial digs at him during BGT 2024-25.
Australian cricketers Mitchell Starc and Alyssa Healy have long been heart-throbs of their own and the cricketing power couple have taken the limelight together for the hilariously adorable chemistry.
The couple are known to take hilarious jabs at each other throughout, with Healy taking a swipe at her husband’s golfing skills throughout the Border-Gavaskar Series in commentary.
But now, the tables are set to turn, as Starc revealed that he will be on commentary for the upcoming Women’s Ashes and is said to relish the chance to respond to his wife Healy’s jovial digs at him during BGT 2024-25.
Healy had ribbed Starc on air for assorted non-cricket stuff, like the state of his golfing game in hilarious and light-hearted fashion.
“I’m actually working the one-dayers. So I’ll be calling the Ashes. Yeah, reversing the roles. I get my right of reply now,” he joked, soon after Australia wrapped up their 3-1 series win in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
During the post-match ABC Grand Stand interviews, Starc was asked about his wife Alyssa being “fraction-critical, not so much of cricket, but just general outside of cricket life”, to which he replied he is looking forward to reply back from commentary himself.
“From all reports, (she) has been pretty critical of my golf game. So I think I’ll sneak around with the lads while she’s playing the Governor General’s game. And then get on the comms, get my right of reply,” Starc stated.
“Maybe not even, but I mean, you get a shot at it.”
Starc’s bowling through the series, especially after the Pink Ball Testhad, was looking shaky despite his consistent contributions, something that the pacer himself admitted to, even though he finished the series with 18 wickets at an average of 28.66.
“We’ll have time to reflect in the next 6 days. But I’m pretty pleased to contribute because I thought I’m …blowing smoke in my pocket a bit. I think I’ve bowled lot worse and taken lot more wickets. So…just happy to contribute,” admitted an honest Starc.
“Entire squad with bat and ball in the field, support staff has been awesome to get us all on the park. I don’t think the script could’ve asked for more, apart from rectifying that Perth loss.”
