Global Punjabi music sensation Diljit Dosanjh is celebrating his 41st birthday today, January 6. From winning desi fans’ hearts to achieving international stardom, Diljit’s journey has been truly inspiring. Recently, his Dil-Iuminati tour had fans across India grooving to his beats. Despite his tremendous success, the singer stays grounded, often sharing heartwarming stories, including a nostalgic memory of his very first paycheck.

In an interview with Curly Tales during his Jatt & Juliet 3 promotions, Diljit opened up about his first job and salary. At just 18, he earned Rs 3,000 for performing at a birthday party. But what makes this story even more touching is how he spent that hard-earned money. Instead of spending it on himself, the singer chose to gift a bicycle to a local uncle who was mentally challenged and lived alone. A promise he had made to him, Diljit Dosanjh fulfilled by spending one-third of his salary on the bicycle.

The rest of the amount was donated to the Gurudwara Sahib. Diljit made his debut in the music industry with his first album, Ishq Da Uda Ada, in 2004. However, it was his third album, Smile, released later that truly catapulted him to fame. Produced by Sukhpal Sukh, Smile gained massive popularity and established Diljit as a rising star in the Punjabi music scene. His musical journey reached new heights in 2020 when his 11th album, G.O.A.T., made its mark on Billboard’s Social 50 chart. The album also climbed to the top of Billboard’s Top Triller Global chart.

Diljit also made history in April 2023 when he became the first Indian Punjabi artist to perform at the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. But that’s not all, he later made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June 2024 where he performed his two songs, Born to Shine and GOAT.

Diljit’s transition into acting was just as successful. His debut film, Udta Punjab, released in 2016, showcased his acting skills and earned him critical acclaim. He went on to star in multiple films like Good Newzz, Jatt & Juliet, Jatt & Juliet 2, Amar Singh Chamkila, Crew, Sardaarji 2, Welcome to New York, Jogi, and more. Over the years, Diljit has also emerged as one of the highest-paid Punjabi actors.

Looking ahead, Diljit is set to star in Border 2, directed by JP Dutta. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Ahaan Shetty.
