In Sitapur, the police has revealed the theft of more than Rs 10 lakh that took place at Mahant’s house on the night of 28 December. Police have arrested two vicious thieves in this case, one of whom has 48 cases registered against him. Police seized gold and silver jewellery, cash, illegal drugs from their possession.

The incident took place in Thangaon police station area. According to the police, the arrested accused Ramvijay Lonia, son of Ramprasad, resident of village Loniapurwa Majra Gwari police station Thangaon, was arrested near the unpaved road. A huge amount of stolen gold and silver jewelery and cash has been recovered from the accused. During interrogation, Ramvijay told that he along with his associates had committed theft in the house of the priest of Mahapurush Baba and had divided the goods among themselves.
During checking, Thangaon police arrested Aniket alias Chhotu son of Pinku Chauhan, resident of Narendrapur Mohalla Lalpur police station Sadarpur. Illegal arms and cartridges were also recovered from his possession. The police have also taken action to send him to jail.
Additional Superintendent of Police Praveen Ranjan Singh said that the arrested accused are vicious and inter-district criminals. More than four dozen cases of robbery, theft, arson, murder and many other crimes are registered against them in Sitapur, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Sant Kabirnagar and Kheri districts.
