A surprise inspection of Gomti Ghat was conducted by Jaunpur District Magistrate Dr. Dinesh Chandra late on Monday evening. During this time, the District Magistrate confiscated the gutkha of the shopkeepers selling gutkha on the ghat and got it destroyed. During this, he appealed to everyone present not to use any kind of intoxicants and polythene on the river ghat and to cooperate in keeping the ghat clean.
The District Magistrate said that strict action will be ensured against those who use drugs on the ghat. After this he also distributed blankets to poor and needy people. SDM Sadar, local residents and others were present on this occasion.
