Star Australian batter Steve Smith is in action for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League on Saturday, January 11, and during the match against Perth Scorchers, which is taking place at Sydney Cricket Ground, the 35-year-old right-handed batter scored a brilliant century. Smith opened the innings for the Moises Henriques-led side and, with the help of 10 fours and 7 sixes, scored 121 runs off 64 balls. He added 113 runs for the third wicket with Henriques (46 off 28) and an unbeaten 58 runs for the fourth wicket with Ben Dwarshuis (23 off 7 balls) to take the Sixers total to 220 for 3 in 20 overs.

By scoring a century in his first Big Bash League match of the ongoing season, the Sydney-born cricketer entered his name in history books. The 121-run knock on Saturday was Smith’s third century in the Big Bash League, and it has helped him become the second player in the tournament’s history to score three or more centuries. Wicketkeeper-batter Ben McDermott, who is playing for Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing season of BBL, is the only other batter to score three centuries in the competition’s history.

Smith, who has played a total of 32 matches in the Big Bash League so far, scored his first century against Adelaide Strikers in Coffs Harbour on January 17, 2023. In that match he faced 56 balls and, with the help of 5 fours and 7 sixes, scored 101 runs.

The legendary all-rounder remained unbeaten on 154 runs for the Melbourne Stars during the match played against the Hobart Hurricanes in Melbourne on January 19, 2022.

During his stay at the crease in that match, Maxwell faced 64 balls and hammered 22 fours and 4 sixes.
