Shahjahanpur Police has taken major action against drug smuggling and arrested two smugglers. More than 4 kg of ganja and Rs 52 thousand obtained from the sale of ganja have been recovered from the accused.

Sadar Bazar police station had received information from an informer that two drug smugglers were going to pass through Subhashnagar Road. The police took immediate action and cordoned off the area and took two suspects into custody. During the search, ganja and cash were recovered from his bag.
The arrested accused have been identified as Afsar Khan and Sonu Awasthi. Afsar Khan is a resident of BBijai Haddaf of Sadar Bazar, while Sonu Awasthi is a resident of Nigohi police station area. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to order ganja from truck drivers and sell it to local customers. Even on Sunday they were going to supply ganja to the customers.
According to CO City Pankaj Pant, one of the accused has a long criminal record. After detailed interrogation of both the accused, they have been presented in the court. The police are now investigating further in this case so that other people involved in drug trafficking can also be traced.
