According to the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission, Atishi has properties worth Rs 76,93,347.98, while Congress’s Alka Lamba has declared assets totalling Rs 3.41 crore
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is engaged in a breakneck competition with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to secure a third term in Delhi. Chief Minister Atishi filed her nomination for the Delhi elections from the Kalkaji seat on Tuesday. She had won the seat by a margin of more than 11,000 votes in the 2020 election, defeating BJP’s Dharambir. This time, she has been pitted against Congress’s Alka Lamba, who also filed her nomination on Tuesday.
Since both these candidates have now declared their properties and assets along with their respective nomination forms let us take a closer look at them.
How Much Property Does Atishi Have?
According to the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission (EC), Atishi’s property is worth Rs 76,93,347.98, which has increased by 28.66% in the last five years. Atishi does not have any immovable property. She has 10 grams of gold in the form of jewellery. She does not own a car or any other vehicle.
In the affidavit, she disclosed two cases of criminal defamation pending against her. She also declared Rs 30,000 in cash.
Atishi has three bank accounts. In SBI’s Flyover Market, Defence Colony Branch, she has Rs 19,93,512 in a savings account and Rs 32,85,459 in a fixed deposit. At ICICI Bank’s Bhogal branch, she has Rs 15,10,790 in a savings account and Rs 7,53,613 in a fixed deposit. ICICI Bank’s Kalkaji Main Road branch holds Rs 20,000 in a savings account.
How Much Property Does Alka Lamba Have?
Congress’s Alka Lamba, contesting against Atishi, has declared assets totalling Rs 3.41 crore. Of this, Lamba holds movable assets worth Rs 61.12 lakh, while one dependant possesses movable assets valued at Rs 14.36 lakh. Her assets have seen an increase of Rs 20.12 lakh over the past five years.
Lamba’s declaration includes a 500-square foot commercial flat in Gurugram, worth Rs 80 lakh, and a residential property in Delhi’s South Extension-1, valued at Rs 2 crore.
Her declared income for the financial year 2024-25 was Rs 8.28 lakh. In the preceding years, her income stood at Rs 8.91 lakh (2023-24) and Rs 5.35 lakh (2022-23). No jewellery has been listed in the affidavit.
With few weeks left for the Delhi elections, the Kalkaji assembly constituency has emerged as a key battleground for all major parties.
The BJP has made this seat a prestige battle by fielding Ramesh Singh Bidhuri, who won the Tughlakabad assembly seat in 2003, 2008 and 2013.
There are a total of 194,515 voters in the Kalkaji constituency, of whom 106,893 are male voters, 87,617 are female voters and five are transgender voters.
Voting for Delhi’s 70 Assembly constituencies is scheduled for February 5. The results will be declared on 8 February.
