Among the arrested accused, Alok Kumar Singh is a resident of Jaunpur district who lives in Varanasi while Manish Mishra is a resident of Madhya Pradesh and the third accused Rajiv Kumar Mishra is a resident of Prayagraj district. Two laptops, a printer, five mobile phones, a Maruti car and more than ₹19,000 have also been recovered from the possession of the accused. These three accused have been arrested near Atraula Toll Plaza of Lalganj police station area of Mirzapur district.

UP STF is continuously receiving complaints of fraud on various toll plazas of National Highways through separate software in addition to NHI software server in the booth computers of toll plazas due to vehicles not having fast track and not having sufficient funds in the fast track account. On this information, STF team detained Alok Kumar Singh near Babatpur Airport and started interrogation.

As per rules, 50% of the toll tax collected from vehicles without Fast Tag has to be deposited in the account of NHAI. Whereas through the software installed by Alok Singh, the amount collected from vehicles without fast tags was embezzled by the toll plaza owners.
Along with this, the vehicle of illegal recovery was shown as exempt from vehicle duty and the vehicle was allowed to pass. On an average, 5% of the toll tax collected from vehicles without Fastrack is collected from the original software of NHAI so that generally no one has any doubt that the toll tax of vehicles without Fastrack is not going into the account.
The embezzled money was distributed among themselves. This embezzled money was distributed among the toll plaza owners, IT personnel and other employees of the toll plaza. Alok Singh just told that under the supervision of Sawant and Sukhantu, toll tax is being embezzled by installing such software on more than 200 toll plazas of the country.
