Mahakumbh has started on 13 January with the bath of Paush Purnima. On the day of Makar Sankranti, on the first Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh, about 3.5 crore devotees took bath in the Sangam, more than expected. Till now more than 9 crore devotees have taken bath in Mahakumbh.
In view of this, Railways has intensified preparations for Mauni Amavasya, the biggest bathing festival of Mahakumbh. Prayagraj Railway Board has also prepared a plan to run more than 150 fair special trains for crores of devotees coming on the day of Mauni Amavasya, which in itself will be a record for Indian Railways.
Will operate from all 9 stations On Makar Sankranti, Prayagraj Railway Board had run 101 fair special trains. Which was a record in itself. The fair authority estimates that more than 10 crore devotees will take bath in Sangam on the day of Mauni Amavasya. Of these, ten to twenty percent devotees are estimated to come by train.
Along with the movement of trains, arrangements for tickets and additional shelters have been made on the basis of color coding for the passengers to stay and reach the correct trains.
Railway claims- one train every 4 minutes Senior PRO of Prayagraj Railway, Amit Malviya said- Prayagraj Railway will run more than 150 fair special trains on the day of Mauni Amavasya. Most of the trains will run from Prayagraj Junction. Apart from this, direction wise special trains will be operated from other stations of the division.
Apart from this, regular trains will also be operated as per time. He said, operating more than 150 special trains in a day from a station will be a record in itself. In Kumbh-2019, only about 85 fair special trains were operated on Mauni Amavasya. He told that based on the estimate of the number of regular trains and special trains running from Prayagraj Railway, one train will operate approximately every 4 minutes on the day of Mauni Amavasya.
