date : 23rd January… The clock was 4 o’clock in the morning. Sector-20, located in the Mahakumbh Mela area of Prayagraj, i.e. the place of the Akharas. A Naga monk is sitting on the ground near the main gate of Shri Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara. More than 10 people were pouring water from pitchers on him one by one. People were seen surrounding him everywhere and chanting Har Har Gange Har Har Mahadev. When I looked closer, I saw a very unique penance.
When asked, Shri Mahant Balram Bharti of the Akhara standing next to him told – This is Naga Sannyasi Pramod Giri, who is doing Jaldhara penance. Today, after 21 days, his penance has been completed. Therefore, on the last day, we are taking bath with Ganga water filled in 108 pitchers.
Come, first of all let us know about Jaldhara Tapasya.
One has to wake up every morning at 4 o’clock and take bath with water kept in a pitcher.
Naga Baba Pramod Giri Dainik Bhaskar Gave complete information about Jaldhara Tapasya. He told- Jaldhara penance is not easy. It is completed in 41 days. But due to lack of time and space in Mahakumbh, we completed the penance in 21 days.
In this, one has to wake up every morning at 4 o’clock and take bath with water kept in a pitcher. On the last day of penance one takes bath with water from 108 pitchers. In this, all the sages and saints of the Akhara participate and give blessings.
The number of pitchers increases every day Pramod Giri Maharaj started this water stream penance on January 3 on the banks of Ganga during Mahakumbh. Had bathed with Ganga water for 31 hours on the first day. The number of pitchers is increased daily, sometimes by 2 or sometimes 3. Similarly, on the 21st day, this penance is concluded by taking bath with 108 pitchers of water. Pramod Giri told that till now he has done Jaladhara penance 9 times. Similarly, fire penance is done in extreme heat.

His Guru has taken Samadhi. But, Pramod Giri, carrying forward the tradition of his Guru, has made this penance the basis of his life. Naga Baba Pramod Giri tells that this water stream performs penance for the welfare of the nation and the welfare of the world.
