4G internet services have been restored in the whole of Jammu and Kashmir in view of the ‘improved security situation’ in the union territory. The decision not to extend the ban on 4G mobile internet services in the 18 districts of J&K was approved by LG Manoj Sinha. Internet services across J&K were completely shut in the wake of abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 and were subsequently restored at 2G speed. 4G services resumed in two districts – Udhampur in Jammu region and Ganderbal in Kashmir region – in August 2020 on a trial basis, while the other 18 districts continued to work with 2G services.
