Legendary Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee (85) is in critical condition. Doctors said that they are not responding to treatment. However, after his COVID report came negative, he has been shifted from COVID ICU to non-COVID section. Doctors said that their neurological condition is deteriorating and the power of thinking and understanding has reduced considerably.
Condition deteriorated in last 24 hours
Doctors said that Chatterjee’s platelets are constantly falling. This has been happening for the last 24 hours. His heart, lungs are working properly. Blood pressure is also right, but what bothers them is their consciousness. Soumitra’s age and related diseases have also become a cause of concern for doctors. He is also being given music therapy.
Corona done, then healed
Soumitra was admitted to the hospital on 6 October, his Corona report came positive on 7 October. While on 15 October, he was free from corona infection. Awarded Padma Bhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, National Film Fair Award, Chatterjee completed the shooting of a series in the last week of September and was also shooting for Parambrata Chattopadhyay’s film Abhigyan. Apart from this, he was also working on his biopic and documentary.
Saumitra Chatterjee is the first Indian actor to be awarded the Legion of Honor by the French government in 2018. It is the largest civilian award of the Government of France.
